As tweeted recently by the Party of European Socialists, PES, in respect of electoral trends across the region; Social Democrats are in power in 12 EU member states, and some 16 overall across the region – meaning that about half the member states with participants in various negotiations around EU law within the Council of the European Union and the European Council are representing views from the other side of the political spectrum of that currently governing the UK.
