It's all about the data

The UK government has put out proposals that could see the jurisdiction step away from GDPR commitments, as it seeks data deals with others such as the US in the wake of Brexit. In context of the CJEU Schrems II ruling that declared a data deal between Brussels and Washington illegal under EU law, this could certainly lead to some head-scratching by those responsible for, say, customer data moving between the EU and UK in future. Meanwhile, an FCA consultation is coming to an end by next week on reporting requirements linked to implementation of recommendations from the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD). More data capture and administration is to be expected by asset managers operating in the UK.
